About me

I’ve been working as a counsellor since qualifying in 2019 and have worked in range of different settings. Some of these settings involved working within a university, NHS community mental health, healthcare, schools, drugs and alcohol services and a boxing gym.

I also work as an associate lecturer, teaching on the University of West of England’s Counselling and Psychotherapy Master’s course. I trained in the Person-Centred approach which puts non-judgement and empathy at the core of my practice, and the central belief that you are the expert on you.

Before training as a counsellor and psychotherapist I worked for the NHS in few different roles from emergency operating theatres, the ambulance service to cardiology clinics. Still trying to find out what I wanted to do, I then joined the Coastguard in their operations centre, before moving into international liaison work and eventually finding my way in to counselling.

I have always enjoyed the huge mental health benefits of connecting with movement. It has the ability to ground us, help us organise a foggy headspace and keep present and mindful. Over the years I have been interested in a range of sports and activities. Currently, I try to make time for any kind of movement, from cycling to climbing, or just walking, as a big part of my overall wellbeing.

I have a Diploma in Higher Education in Person-Centred Counselling and a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy Practice. I have also completed a range of further training courses including the incorporation of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Trauma Focused Therapy and Mindfulness.
